Welcome to Football Diary. Your privacy is critically important to us. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your personal information when you use our mobile application (the “App”) and related services.
Data Stored Locally on Your Device
Football Diary is designed with a local-first architecture. This means the majority of your personal data is stored securely on your own device and is not automatically uploaded to our servers. This includes:
- Profile Data: Name, birthdate, club, team, position, height, weight, jersey number, etc.
- Log Data: Training sessions, match performances, sleep records, recovery tracking, and external feedback.
- Reflections & Goals: Your short-, medium-, and long-term goals, mental diary entries, and role reflections.
- Media: Any images or videos you attach to your match logs remain on your local device.
Data Sent to Our Servers
To provide certain features, such as account recovery and AI insights, we collect and process the following information on our secure servers:
- Authentication Data: When you sign in using Apple or Google, we receive an authentication token and basic profile information (such as your email address) to create and manage your account.
- Purchase & Subscription Data: We use RevenueCat to manage in-app purchases and subscriptions. We process your purchase history and entitlement status (e.g., Basic or Pro). We do not collect or store your credit card information; this is handled securely by the App Store or Google Play.
- AI Report Generation Data: If you request an AI-generated performance report (Free Trial, Weekly, or Monthly), a payload of your logged data is sent to our servers to generate the report. This data is strictly anonymised. We do not send your name, club, or league level to the AI model. We only send relevant athletic context (age, position, dominant foot) and your log data (ratings, reflections).
We use the information we collect to:
- Provide, maintain, and improve the App.
- Personalise your experience and generate AI-driven performance insights.
- Process transactions and manage your subscription entitlements.
- Communicate with you regarding updates, security alerts, and support messages.
- Comply with legal obligations.
We do not sell your personal data. We only share information with trusted third-party service providers who assist us in operating the App:
- Supabase: For secure user authentication and server infrastructure.
- RevenueCat: For managing subscriptions and in-app purchases.
- AI Providers (e.g., OpenRouter, OpenAI, Anthropic): For generating performance reports. As noted, any data sent to these providers is anonymised and stripped of personally identifiable information like your name.
4. Data Security and Retention
We take reasonable measures to help protect information about you from loss, theft, misuse, and unauthorized access.
- Local Data: Data stored on your device is protected by your device’s security mechanisms (e.g., passcode, biometric lock).
- Server Data: Data on our servers is protected using industry-standard encryption.
- Retention: We retain your account data for as long as your account is active. You can delete your account at any time via the Profile settings in the App, which will permanently delete your authentication record and server-side data. To remove local data, you can simply uninstall the App.
5. Medical Disclaimer
The App includes features like Sleep Tracking, Recovery Tracking, and a Rehab & Comeback Blueprint. Football Diary is not a medical device, and the information provided does not constitute medical advice. You should always consult with a qualified healthcare professional, physiotherapist, or athletic trainer regarding injuries, recovery, or medical conditions.
6. Children’s Privacy
Our App is intended for users who are at least 13 years old. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you are under the age of 18, you should review this policy with your parent or guardian.
7. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you by revising the date at the top of the policy and, in some cases, we may provide you with additional notice (such as adding a statement to the App or sending you a notification).
